1) Hot Chocolate Festival
When: Today and Tomorrow
Where: City Bakery
What: This weekend marks the beginning of City Bakery's 21st annual Hot Chocolate Festival. Throughout the month of February, the Flatiron bakery will feature a new specialty hot chocolate each day. This weekend, banana peel and caramel are on tap, but keep an eye out for flavor combos like black rum with cinnamon and bourbon-infused cocoa. There will also be snacks available for purchase. 2) Fatty 'Cue Pork Bowl
When: Sunday, 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Where: Whiskey Park
What: This Super Bowl Sunday, Fatty 'Cue returns to Midtown for one day with a pop-up restaurant at Whiskey Park. There will be a whole roasted pig, pork sandwiches, and side dishes, enough to feed between nine and twelve people. Drink specials will be offered all afternoon as well. Doors open at 4 p.m., and the festivities begin around 6 p.m. Call the restaurant at 212-307-9222 to make a reservation.
3) French Craft Beer Tasting
When: Sunday, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Where: Jimmy's No. 43
What: Jimmy's No. 43 is multi-tasking tomorrow afternoon with a French beer tasting and Super Bowl watch party. Jim Barnes of Shelton Brothers will be pouring French beers from Brasserie de Bretagne, including Sant Erwan, Dremmwel Rousse, and Celtika. Regular bar and menu service will be available as well, and of course, a TV for Super Bowl viewing purposes.
4) Super Bowl Pig Roast
When: Sunday, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Where: The Alewife
What: Tomorrow afternoon, LIC's Alewife is hosting a free pig roast in honor of the Super Bowl. There will be craft beers, wine, and cocktails available for purchase, as well as a massive big screen and several smaller TVs tuned to the game. 5) Fondue Sunday
When: Sunday
Where: Trestle on Tenth
What: This is the last month to get your fill of melted cheese at Trestle on Tenth's Fondue Sundays. Served in traditional Swiss style, the fondue is a blend of spicy Gruyère, nutty Emmentaler, and creamy Vacherin cheeses served alongside nibbles like speck, bündnerfleisch, steamed potatoes, cornichons and a sliced baguette, all for $25. Swiss wine, black tea, or shots of Kirschwasser will be available for pairings as well.
Also of Note: Starting tomorrow, db Bistro Moderne will be offering all of the bottles of wine in their cellar at 50% off the listed price for anyone dining after 8 p.m. Looking to try a new restaurant this weekend?
