11 Times Square will soon be home to the first northeast location of Mexican-themed binge drinking facility Señor Frog's. For those unfamiliar with the chain, these are bars where young dudes and ladies (but mostly dudes) go to drink cocktails served in neon-tinted "yard glasses" while staring at ceramic butt cheeks. Many guests buy t-shirts, which they wear until the cotton evaporates.
But unlike most locations of Señor Frog's, visitors to the New York branch will not get to bask in the warm sun while they wash back their Froggi-tinis. From the New York Post: "Senor Frog's has signed for 21,000 square feet, most of it in the windowless basement but with a 2,400-square-foot street 'footprint' on the 42nd Street side." It sounds less like a tropical cabana, and more like a foreboding, Mexican-themed Rathskeller — a bro dungeon, if you will.
No word yet on when Señor Frog's NYC will open, but sometime around Spring Break 2014 sounds about right.
