1) East Village: Progress is coming along at Alder, the coming 50-seat pub from wd~50 mad scientist Wylie Dufresne, EV Grieve notices. It's taking over the former Plum Pizzeria space at 157 Second Ave. [PLYWOOD]
2) Lower East Side: Here's a fresh shot of Ivan Ramen, which was just confirmed for its space at 25 Clinton St. Projected opening: this spring. [PLYWOOD]
3) Greenwich Village: The former Rocco Restaurant, set to become the newest venture from the Torrisi boys, Carbone, got itself a fresh coat of paint today. No word on opening date for it yet. [PLYWOOD]
4) Greenwich Village: The Torrisi boys' other new project is the sandwich shop The Lobster Club. The exterior at the space at 169 Thompson St. is looking a little weary, but signage suggests that work is ongoing inside. [PLYWOOD]
5) Midtown: La Pulperia is a "rustic Latin" spot coming to 371 W 46th St. Chef and co-owner Carlos Barroz is also chef and partner at Quahog's Seafood Shack in Stone Harbor, N.J. It's due to open on February 11. [POST-PLYWOOD]
6) East Village: A liquor license application has been submitted for what appears to be a laundry/bistro at 44 E. First St. The owners will defend the application at the February 11 CB3 SLA committee meeting. It may or may not be called Weary Dreamer. [PRE-PLYWOOD]
7) Lower East Side: And confusingly, on Allen Street there's a place called Pulperia incoming. (No "La" in this one.) Owner Erick Caceres, of the Bronx French/Italian bistro Oregano, is defending his liquor license here at the February 11 CB3 SLA committee meeting. Per The Lo-Down, his app describes the restaurant as a small plates Latin American restaurant. [PLYWOOD]
8) East Village: The Post gets word that a new Ethiopian restaurant is coming to the East Village. Called Haile Ethiopian, it's taken over the former Fu Sushi space at 182 Avenue B. [PLYWOOD]
9) East Village: And in final East Village news, The Local takes a look at the Immigrant Tap Room, which the wine bar The Immigrant is installing in the space next door. The bar will have 18 seats at four tables, with seven more seats at an L-shaped bar in the front. The sample menu has eight draft beers and a small selection of meats, cheeses, and salads.
