In the next few weeks, restaurateurs Michael and Susy Glick will open The Writing Room in the space that once housed the beloved Elaine's. The Glicks "want to pay homage to an amazing space, but also to change it." Their hope is that their restaurant will become an institution of its own someday, but writer and Elaine's regular Gay Talese warns that the new owners "can do the restaurant well, but that's not the point. Elaine didn't do it well. I don't remember anything that worked at Elaine's. Except for Elaine." [NYT] [Photo]
