Holidays at Northern Spy; TipsForJesus Hits Mexico

EAST VILLAGE — Northern Spy is now taking reservations for both Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve dinners. For Christmas, the three-course, $60 prix fixe includes options like carrots with black barley, or chicken with buckwheat, quince, and pumpkin. The New Year's meal is four courses for $75, with options like a rabbit and foie gras terrine, and scallop ceviche with uni and pomelo. The full menus and details on making reservations for each can be found online. [EaterWire]

WINEWIRE —L'Apicio is hosting wine writer Jon Bonne for a five-course wine dinner on Monday, December 9. The menu includes charred octopus antipasti and pasta with sausage ragu and broccoli rabe pesto. Tickets are $125 including food and seven wine pairings, or $146 to include Bonne's new book, The New California Wine. [EaterWire]

DO-GOODERS — Andrew at The Smith was not the only server to feel the blessings of TipsForJesus yesterday. Eater National notes that the mysterious tipper also struck a resort in Mexico last night, which means that whether or not former PayPal VP Jack Selby is involved, he's probably not doing it along.
