Drunk Santas Will Besiege the LES and Brooklyn

Since the Drunk Santas are no longer welcome in Hell's Kitchen, this year's SantaCon route will wind its way through the Lower East Side and all the way over to Brooklyn. The exact official route is traditionally never revealed until the day before the festive rampage, but in an attempt to appease all the haters, SantaCon organizers have been in touch with the NYPD to let them in on the details.

A police source tells DNAinfo that the crawl will start at Tompkins Square Park, ramble through the Lower East Side until noon, and then cross the river to Brooklyn. The Daily News adds that organizers have promised to have 80 "helper elves" stationed along the route to keep the jolly old St. Nicks in line. A SantaCon spokesman, however, is careful to note that the whole route is merely "suggested," and when December 14 dawns, "anyone can dress up as Santa and go to any bar in any neighborhood they choose."
