The Original Tamarind to Close at the End of the Year

After a solid 13-year run on 22nd Street, the original location of Indian fine dining restaurant Tamarind will close at the end of the month. An employee at the restaurant tells Eater that the lease is up. No word yet on whether owner Avtar Walia plans to open another location, but Grub Street reports that the staff from the 22nd Street restaurant will migrate down to Tamarind Tribeca next year. For its final service on New Year's Eve, the original Tamarind will offer a la carte specials from menus that it has served over the years.
