A lot of single menu item restaurants opened in 2013, offering many different types of comfort foods, but Taquitoria is the only one that the critics and bloggers actually seem to like. Perhaps that explains why chef/empire builder Marc Forgione has joined the team as an investor. In a statement, The Forge notes: "I only get involved with things I believe in. As soon as I tasted the taquitos I knew it was something I wanted to be involved in. I really believe that every neighborhood in the world could use a Taquitoria." Every. Single. One.
The move does not come as too much of a surprise, because Taquitoria is owned by Barry Frish and Brad Holtzman, who both worked at Forgione's flagship, and Matthew Conway, who still works as the sommelier/GM at Marc Forgione. And since day one, the restaurant has served a chicken taquito made with Marc Forgione's Batch 22 bloody Mary mix. Sietsema is a fan.
