The end is near for Williamsburg's vegan junk food emporium Foodswings. Although the owners have not announced an exact shutter date, a Facebook message from earlier this month notes: "We are trying to stay, and it could be one month, or three months or six...Come in now and often. We could really use the support right now." The landlord tripled the rent and the restaurant has been operating without a lease for the last year. A manager tells the Brooklyn Paper: "It's Williamsburg, and that's what happens here now...The neighborhood has changed immensely and we are just the latest ones to go." A sushi restaurant will take its place.
The owners hope to reopen the restaurant in another location, or revive Foodswings as a food truck.
