Mussel Sundays at John Dory; New Year's at Amali

John Dory Oyster Bar by Krieger

NOMAD — Starting this weekend, John Dory Oyster Bar is changing up the menu for its Mussel Sundays. Now the $12 mussel dinner special will be made with puttanesca sauce, with tomatoes, anchovies, capers, chilis and herbs. [EaterWire]

UPPER EAST SIDE — Amali is offering a few specials on its a la carte menu for New Years Eve, including risotto with white truffles, lobster pasta, and cotechino. It will send diners home with slices of vasilopita, a Greek New Year's cake. In keeping with tradition, one of those slices will have a coin hidden inside, and whoever gets it will win dinner and a wine tasting for two. [EaterWire]

YEAR IN EATER — Eater National has a roundup of some of the best new restaurants of 2013, according to a long list of food writers and experts from around the world. Estela, Charlie Bird, and Mission Cantina come out on top of the New York restaurants, but Glasserie also scores quite a few mentions. [~EN~]
