The new vegetarian restaurant from Jean-Georges Vongerichten will open this spring in the space connected to ABC Carpet & Home that formerly housed Le Pain Quotidien. The Post reports that this new restaurant, which has the working name ABC Home Grown, will offer vegetarian and vegan food with a "global perspective." So soon, Vongericthen will have three restaurants in the ABC Carpet & Home complex.
The chef/restaurateur also launched a retail operation called ABCMKT in the basement of ABC Carpet & Home, which sells dishware, kitchen equipment, linens, and packaged artisan foodstuffs. It sounds like Vongerichten plans to add a fresh food component to this space to make it "like an indoor Union Square green market." And, JGV is also working on another farm-to-table restaurant in Westchester called The Inn at Pound Ridge. That project is slated to open in January.
