Villard Michel Richard offers a fancy $26 burger that's virtually identical to the $18 ones served at Richard's other restaurants in D.C. and Las Vegas. Karim Lakhani, the New York Palace Hotel's vice president of food and beverage, explains why it's more expensive here: "New York overheads are far greater than D.C. overheads, from the cost of the product to the cost of labor to the cost of just doing business in New York — period...We try to keep it as low as possible, but we couldn't go down to $18."
