Jesse Schenker Is Taking Over the Alison Eighteen Space

Alison Price Becker's Flatiron District restaurant Alison Eighteen will close on December 19. Billed as Becker's big comeback, the restaurant lasted less than two years. Flo Fab reports that Recette chef/restaurateur Jesse Schenker will open a new restaurant in the space next year. No word yet on what type of restaurant this will be, but about a year and a half ago, he applied for a liquor license for a new project in the neighborhood called The Goose. That space didn't work out, but maybe the timing is right for The Goose to spread its wings and fly.

Fans of Alison Eighteen's hearty French-American fare will be happy to learn that executive chef Roxanne Spruance is planning a solo project after the restaurant closes. Ms. Spruance sends word that she is looking at spaces for her own restaurant, which she hopes to open with two of her current employees at Alison Eighteen: pastry chef Sarah Sutherland and sous chef Sarah Grouse. No word yet on where that will be located, but Spruance notes: "We believe in our food and our model, and this has been on the back burner for quite some time."
