Restaurateur Michael Callahan, the man behind Bondst, Indochine, Republic and Kittichai, is taking over Greenpoint's Coco66 and turning it into a bistro. The bar/music venue only just reopened this spring, after the police and the SLA raided the place, arrested owner David Kelleran, and dumped some $20,000 worth of liquor down the drain two years ago.
Now Callahan will team up with chef Joe Capozzi, formerly of The Fat Radish and Ruschmeyer's in Montauk, to reopen the space as a farm-to-table restaurant. Grub Street reports that the menu will include dishes like grilled oysters with bourbon butter, and grilled pork chops with cherry peppers, escarole, and bacon. The revamped space will reopen with the same name and a similar look by the end of the month.
