Jeff McInnis Previews Root & Bone With a Pop-Up

Former Top Cheftestapant and Yardbird chef Jeff McInnis is hosting a pop-up preview of Root & Bone, his forthcoming East Village restaurant, for two weekends this month. He and his partner (and current Cheftestapant) Janine Booth will serve a nine-course meal of the same kind of Southern-style dishes that earned McInnis a reputation before he parted ways with the Miami hot spot. That includes everything from classic shrimp and grits to a charcuterie board of housemade goat Slim Jim, wild boar terrine, and tasso lamb ham.

The meals will take place on November 15, 16, 22 and 23 at a spot called The Brew Inn, a Greenpoint beer bar that itself is slated to open on November 14. Tickets, which include beer pairings, are $65 per person, and can be reserved online. The permanent Root & Bone will open in the old Mama's Food Shop space early next year.
