Amanda Cohen got initial approval from the CB3's SLA licensing subcommittee last night for her new location of Dirt Candy at 86 Allen Street. Ms. Cohen tells EV Grieve that she's signed the lease on the space, and when the second restaurant opens, the first one will turn into something else. Cohen explains: "We aren't sure what we are going to do with the old space. We are definitely going to keep it, but for now all we know is that it won't be a full-service restaurant." The change will probably happen next fall.
In other CB3 news, the Momofuku team got initial approval for the new Ko space on Extra Place, although Bowery Boogie notes: "the name of the relocated concept will likely change." No more Ko? Momofuku Something Else? Sounds bananas. We'll just have to wait and see about that one. Down on the Lower East Side, the Schnitz crew got initial approval for a beer and wine license, as did a restaurateur that wants to revive Zucco Le French Diner, which has been closed since the summer. Jeff McInnis and his partner also got the thumbs up for their new restaurant Root & Bone.
