Here's a sneak peek at Grindhaus, a long-in-the-works Red Hook restaurant that's slated to open early next month. Proprietor Erin Norris started working on this project way, way back in 2008. She had hoped to open last year, but the space was significantly damaged by Hurricane Sandy. Norris and her crew raised $19,000 to rebuild from a Kickstarter campaign, and now the restaurant is just about ready to rock and roll.
The menu has not been finalized yet, but chef Aaron Taber and sous chef Leon Douglas are working on a set of meaty dishes like venison tartare with sun chokes, lamb neck ragu, pork cheek with white beans, and homemade merguez with chickpeas. If everything goes according to plan, Grindhaus should open on December 5. Take a look around:
