Wylie Dufresne's critical hit Alder is launching brunch this Sunday with a menu that's full of brand new dishes from the chef and his partner in crime Jon Bignelli. The team is still working on the final set of dishes, but expect things like bloody Mary popcorn, a Singapore chow fun sandwich, coconut waffles with jerk chicken, and an open-faced "lobster knuckle sandwich." The drinks list will include green, yellow, and traditional red bloody Marys (a "stoplight series"), and for those that want something that vaguely resembles breakfast, Alder will serve bacon, egg, and cheese gyoza.
It's refreshing, in a way, to see talented, highly-acclaimed chefs like Paul Liebrandt and Wylie Dufresne embrace brunch, the meal that the uber-foodies love to hate. Brunch at Alder kicks off on Sunday at noon, and a limited number of reservations are available online.
