Yuji Ramen Is in For Good at Two Whole Foods Locations

Hit ramen pop-up Yuji Ramen is now a permanent resident of the Bowery Whole Foods. Chef Yuji Haraguchi originally served his noodles at Smorgasburg and alongside Frej as a pop-up a Kinfolk Studios (now the permanent home of Aska), before setting up shop in the Bowery Whole Foods' test kitchen for what was supposed to be just two months. Those two months stretched out into five months of ramen, mazemen, and seven-course tasting menus, and now Whole Foods has announced that it will keep Yuji Ramen on for good.

Yuji will also have a second permanent set-up in the Gowanus Whole Foods, which should open before the end of the year. The occasional omakase meals will only take place at the Manhattan location, but otherwise both locations will keep the same menu of dishes like uni miso and bacon & egg mazemen. Meanwhile, Haraguchi's Williamsburg restaurant Okonomi, where he plans to serve Japanese street food, more ramen and more omakase meals, is slated to open by the end of the year.
