Dominique Ansel is once again harnessing the power of Cronut mania for good, this time with a Thanksgiving charity project called the Cronut Mission. He's teamed up with Christiane Lemieux, the creative director of Dwell Studio, to raise money for God's Love We Deliver, an organization that brings meals to those who are too sick to shop or cook for themselves. To do so they'll be auctioning off pairs of Cronuts in boxes specially designed by various celebrities.
The celebrities in question are a mix of designers, food people, and various other famous people ranging from Joan Rivers to Heidi Klum to the casts of several musicals. Their box designs will be revealed over the course of the next week, but the Cronut Mission has already hinted that decorations include color-blocking, jewels, and "locks to rival Rapunzel's." The Cronuts inside will also be an ultra-deluxe Thanksgiving special edition flavor, filled with pumpkin cream and topped with 24K gold. Online bidding for the boxes runs from November 18 through 26, and starts at $100 per box. Winners will get their box delivered to their door on Thanksgiving day.
