After several solid years on the raw end of things, cranking out high quality meats, housemade charcuterie, and "trashy sausages," Williamsburg butcher shop The Meat Hook is getting into the sandwich business. Head butcher Tom Mylan is about to open Meat Hook Sandwich, a freestanding, sandwich-only spot on Lorimer Street, not too far from The Brooklyn Kitchen, where the butcher shop is housed.

On the opening menu are five meaty standards, including an Italian sub, grilled ham and cheese, and a roast pork sandwich. Mylan says there will also be daily specials "determined by whatever we have too much of at the butcher shop," and hints at options like an "undisclosed baloney" sandwich and a "gross vegetarian." Meat Hook Sandwich is slated to open some time in January.
