Donna, the popular Williamsburg cocktail bar, is closed for the foreseeable future after a devastating fire caused significant damage to the space this past Saturday night. An electrical fire broke out in the bar's ceiling sometime between 8:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. and quickly destroyed the space, but luckily, no one was injured.
After praising the quick response of the FDNY, Donna owner Leif Young Huckman posted a note on the Donna Facebook page announcing the news of the closure, saying, "closing our doors to you is a heart-wrenching choice to make, as is not being able to provide my incredible staff with steady employment, but it is a necessary one for the time being." Huckman also put out a call for any bars or restaurants who can offer shifts to the now displaced Donna employees. This also means that Brooklyn Taco's outpost inside Donna is now closed as well.
