Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group is partnering with the King & Grove New York hotel on East 29th Street to open a new all-day Italian restaurant from Maialino's chef Nick Anderer. USHG will also be in charge of the food and beverage for the entire hotel, including room service. Maialino partner/director of operations Terry Coughlin will run the front of the house at the new restaurant. Anderer and Coughlin will split their time between Maialino and this new project. As you may recall, King & Grove also partnered with Paul Liebrandt this year on the opening of The Elm in the Williamsburg.
In a statement released by USHG, chef Anderer notes: "We can't wait to become part of the fabric of a growing food and beverage scene in this thriving neighborhood. Together with King & Grove, we will create an energetic and welcoming gathering place for New Yorkers and visitors alike." The team hopes to open this new as-yet-unnamed restaurant in "mid-2014." This is the first new, non-franchise restaurant that Danny Meyer and the Union Square Hospitality Group have opened since North End Grill in winter 2012.
