Later this year, Buttermilk Channel's Doug Crowell and Ryan Angulo will open Concorde, a new French restaurant at 320 Atlantic Avenue in Boerum Hill. Crowell tells Eater:
It's our version of a French cafe, which is to say French with an American spirit, American with a French soul. Our patron saint is Julia Child, an all-American Francophile if there ever was one. We hope she'd approve. In addition to versions of classic French dishes like cassoulet and escargot, Angulo's menu will include raw bar items and fresh seafood plates, plus chops and cuts of beef served steakhouse-style with sauces and sides. The wine list will focus on American and French wines, and Concorde will also serve cocktails, ciders, and beer.
Crowell explains the name and the overall concept:
We're naming it Concorde because Ryan and I are obsessed with that plane and the decadence and space age ingenuity it represents. The Concorde flew from New York to Paris in a supersonic 3.5 hours while passengers dined on foie gras, caviar, and Champagne. We'd do that twice a week if we could. It's also a lovely word that, in French and English, means agreement, friendship, and harmony. Those are nice things to have in your restaurant.Concorde will eventually offer breakfast, lunch, dinner, and brunch. Crowell and Angulo hope to open the restaurant by the end of November.
