The Parks Department has decided that the Great GoogaMooga, that annually disastrous music, food and booze fest, will not be welcomed back in Prospect Park for another year. In its first year the event was criticized for impossibly long lines and food shortages, and last year the fallout was even worse. After a rainy two days, organizers cancelled the last day of the festivities, leaving vendors with thousands of dollars worth of unsold food and the park with a mud pit of a lawn.
Now Besty Smith, the head of revenue and marketing for the Parks Department, has announced that the festival had caused "more damage than we thought," and that the department has decided that Prospect Park is "probably not the appropriate venue for something like that." GoogaMooga's organizers, Superfly Presents, say they will look elsewhere for somewhere to hold the event next year.
