The owners of craft cocktail bar The Beagle sent a message to friends and customers this morning announcing that the bar will close on November 2. Last month, a new team of operators applied for a liquor license at the space, so the news does not come as too much of a surprise. Owners Matt Piacentini and Dan Greenbaum explain: "This was a difficult choice to make, but we believe it was the right choice. We do not feel that the physical space we currently occupy is well suited to the full time cocktail bar we have become. " Piacentini and Greenbaum are currently looking at spaces for another bar project.
The Beagle opened two and a half years ago with a menu of drinks, tasting boards, and small plates, then the owners revamped the space and introduced a menu of "comfortable, approachable fare." The cocktail obsessives of this city loved this place, so hopefully they will follow Piacentini and Greenbaum to their next project. Here's the letter from the Beagle Team:
Dear patrons and friends
It is with a mixture of sadness and excitement that we announce that the Beagle will be closing. We have immensely enjoyed our time serving you all and getting to know this great neighborhood.
This was a difficult choice to make, but we believe it was the right choice. We do not feel that the physical space we currently occupy is well suited to the full time cocktail bar we have become.
Although our search for a new space continues, we accepted an offer to sell the Beagle's current home. We think this is fortuitous.
We are very excited about this opportunity to start anew, with a focus on cocktails, which are the heart and soul of what we do. The Beagle was a wonderful little place and we'll always be proud of what we accomplished there, and remain grateful for its many enthusiasts.
We hope you'll look forward to our future endeavors, as we do. Our last night of service to the general public will be Saturday Nov. 2nd.
Stay tuned,
Matt Piacentini & Dan Greenbaum
