Harvard Professor Plans Second Look at Marquee

The Harvard professor who published a business school case study on Marquee says that she will be releasing a follow up report. While the initial case study looked at the business of an aging nightclub and what the owners should do going forward, Professor Anita Elberse's second look at the nightclub industry and club will study Marquee New York's multi-million dollar transformation from a promoter dependent business model to one more dependent on superstar DJs, where the nightclub is less about selection at the door and more similar to the rest of the entertainment industry that is dependent on blockbusters to make money.

Elberse also said that she is constantly fielding calls from other club owners who hope to pick her brain for nightlife business strategies, which she usually turns down in order to not have conflicts of interest. Marquee 2.0 will be released as a Harvard Business School case study later this fall.
