Restaurateur Jud Mongell and the rest of the team behind Five Leaves will be at the helm of the cafe housed inside the Rough Trade store that's opening soon in Williamsburg. Ken Addington, the chef at Five Leaves, is designing the menu, and it will be run by Carlos Valencia, a longtime employee of the restaurant.
Rough Trade is notable in the UK for being one of London's largest record stores, and for spawning the label that released the first four Smiths albums. The massive Williamsburg store, which will be the only current US outpost, will also house a music venue in partnership with The Bowery Presents. The restaurant will have about 10 seats, and the team hopes to cater to the people shopping and seeing music in the space. The store is slated to open on North 9th Street on November 25, with the cafe coming some time in December.
