The massive Eataly-esque market and food court being planned for Brookfield Place now has a name: Le District. Within that French-focused market will be two full-service restaurants (yet to be determined), both overlooking the Hudson. Beyond that, Le District will also include 10,000 square feet of outdoor dining space on a waterfront plaza, where Ed Hogan, the director of leasing for the project, says he envisions "barges pulling up to the harbor, hauling fresh produce" for the restaurant and the rest of the marketplace's food vendors.
Among the other vendors signed on to Brookfield Place are quite a few heavy hitters: Parm will have one of the complex's six sit-down restaurants outside of Le District, and Umami Burger, Num Pang, and Mighty Quinn's are all signed on for the more-casual food court on the second floor. The dining terrace is slated to open in the spring of 2014, while Le District and the rest of the retail complex won't open until later that year.
Update: An earlier version of this post stated that Le District would be the name of one of the French restaurants, when in fact it's the name of the entire marketplace.
