Ludlow House Wins Liquor License Approval

Despite intense opposition, a judge ruled in favor of the Ludlow House in its quest to receive a liquor license today, meaning that the expansion of the Soho House into the Lower East Side will go forward. As part of the approval, the Ludlow House must refrain from serving alcohol on the roof at all times and limit its operating hours during its first yeras in business, which is exactly what we predicted would happen. A rep for the club tells Eater: "It was extremely important to Soho House that we went through this process and had an open and honest dialogue with the residents of Ludlow and the surrounding area. We are immensely grateful to the residents who supported us and we hope we can earn the trust of those that didn't."

Despite the kind words, the Ron Burkle and his team must be savoring this victory over their local foes. Work will get underway quickly, but an opening for the new location probably won't happen until 2015.
