Address: 138 Orchard St., Lower East Side
Status: Opening Tonight
Chef Fabian von Hauske worked at Faviken and Noma. Chef Jeremiah Stone worked at Isa. Sommelier Linda Milagros Violago worked at Mugaritz. And tonight, they're all going to start working together at a small restaurant on the Lower East Side called Contra. Stone and von Hauske will serve a five-course prix fixe of New American fare for $55. Back in August, Stone told Eater: "We're not trying to say we're the best chefs in the world. We just want to charge a fair amount so that we can do food that's interesting and that people like."
This is definitely one of the restaurants that the chefs, critics, and bloggers of this city will be checking out in the coming weeks. Take a look at the opening menu below, and please send any early reports our way.
