Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are five choice dining events going on around the city:
1) Mexican Pig Roast
When: Today, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: Havemeyer Park
What: Brooklyn burrito shop B'klyn Burro is taking over Williamsburg's Havemeyer Park this evening for an old fashioned fritanga. The Mexican-style whole pig roast will involve all-you-can-eat pork carnitas, pork tacos, chicharrones, and more. Tickets are still available online for $25 per person.
2) Southern Crab Boil
When: Sunday, 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Where: Willow Road
What: In honor of the New York City Wine & Food Festival that's taking over the city this weekend, Willow Road is hosting a "Good Ol' Southern Crab Boil." There will be freshly baked biscuits, low country crab, grilled corn on the cob, fried chicken, and more. Guests can drink as much beer as they want for $10 and eat as much food as they want for $25. Email reservations@willowroadnyc.com for more information.
3) Danish Red Sausage Event
When: Sunday, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: Aamanns-Copenhagen
What: Tomorrow afternoon, the Danish pop-up restaurant Revolving Dansk is hosting an authentic Danish red sausage event at Aamanns-Copenhagen. The hot dogs will be served pølsevogn-style in honor of Denmark's popular hot dog wagons, which means they'll be topped with crispy fried onions and sweet Scandinavian pickles. There will also be drink specials and Scandinavian rock music. Admission to the event is free, but guests will have to pay per item.
4) Enid's Apple Pie Contest
When: Sunday, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: Enid's
What: Tomorrow night, Enid's is hosting its 11th annual apple pie contest. Roughly 50 local bakers will submit their creative take on the classic American pie to the bake-off. Expect twists like bacon apple pie, bourbon apple pie, apple pie with cheddar cheese, and more. Beer, seasonal drinks, and other apple-based food offerings will be available as well. There is a $5 cover fee, with all proceeds going to the Greenpoint Soup Kitchen.
5) Harvest Beer & Cider Sessions
When: Today, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Jimmy's No. 43
What: Cider Week NY kicks off this weekend at Jimmy's No. 43 with Harvest Beer & Cider Sessions, a special tasting extravaganza. Guests will get to sample some domestic ciders, some international ciders, and various seasonal brews. There will also be a few short seminars and snacks.
