It looks like the mysterious Danny Bowien taco project at 172 Orchard St. is getting closer to opening. The Mission Chinese team put a help wanted ad on Craigslist for a new restaurant that notes: "All applicants must have experience working in fast paced, NY Times reviewed restaurants and be able to commit to working 3-4 days a week. We will be hiring for lunch and dinner shifts." The SLA permits are filed under "Mission Cantina LLC," but no trade name is listed. The wine license also lists one Francis Falcinelli as a principal. Surely, this is Bowien's best bud Frank Falcinelli, of Prime Meats and the Frankies restaurants.
At this point in time, Danny Bowien has not confirmed that this project exists. But Eater sources whisper that it's definitely happening soon, and tacos are involved.
