New, 12 comments

TRIBECA ? Andrew Carmellini is hosting a wild game dinner at Locanda Verde on Monday January 7. It's a four-course dinner with wine pairings for $155. The menu and tix are available over this way. [EaterWire]

MEPA ? Here's a possibly-fake thing that's made the rounds today: Someone who claims to be a chef "definitely known in and around Manhattan" says he farted on each and every one of the 37 employees at his MePa restaurant starting in 2008, and has taken to Craigslist to tell the story. The chef promises to post the story of each employee every day for 37 days. Joy. [Craigslist via GS]

INWOOD ? The massive and controversial restaurant La Marina is closing for the winter, in part to deal with damage from Hurricane Sandy. [Facebook via DNAinfo]

FIDI ? The Gold Street restaurant Giardino D'oro was mostly destroyed by flooding caused by Hurricane Sandy. SpacesTV has a video showing the process of rebuilding the restaurant, as it got back up-and-running in two weeks with a hefty redesign. [Youtube]

WINE WIRE ? A recent study reveals that the wine industry is so concentrated that just three firms account for half of US wine sales. Most wines tracked by Michigan professor Philip Howard can be traced back to parent companies E&J Gallo Winery (Carlo Rossi, Barefoot Cellars, etc), The Wine Group (Franzia, Almaden, etc) and Constellation Brands (Woodbridge, Arbor Mist, etc), which altogether control 51.5 percent of US wine sales.
