WHALE WEEK 2013 ? Eater National takes a look at the 14 most expensive tasting menus in America. Daniel and Brooklyn Fare rank as relative steals at numbers 14 and 12, respectively, while Masa tops the list, with a real cost of $1,160 for two, before drinks. [Eater National]

CLINTON HILL ? Blackbook has a hefty profile of The Wallace, a newish American restaurant on Fulton Street. Here's chef and co-owner Jon Wallace on his American menu: "Working with American food allows you to take the influences of all the numerous culinary cultures of the world and throw them together in a melting pot similar to America. If I feel like I want to use curry, miso or chimmy churry [sic]in any of my dishes, I can pretty much sell it as American food—as far as using American ingredients and making things that are familiar to an American audience." Here's the coda on the story of that Italian tourist who got arrested after being unable to pay his bill at Smith & Wollensky: the Neapolitan lawyer will have his charges dismissed if he remains arrest-free for the next six months. Meanwhile, a friend of his declared outside of city court today that no Italians will ever go to Smith & Wollensky again, which seems unlikely. [NYP]
