Harlem Icon Lenox Lounge Has Officially Shuttered

The 63-year-old jazz club and Harlem icon Lenox Lounge closed its doors for good on Monday, after the club's landlord doubled the rent on the space, forcing out current owner Alvin Reed in the process. In March the space will reopen as the Notar Jazz Club, by Nobu restaurateur Richie Notar, who wasn't allowed to use the Lenox Lounge name. As Jeremiah Moss notes, the famed neon lights at the "Neighborhood joint decked out in faded glamour" have already come down.
