Carmellini & Wise to Serve Lafayette Dishes at The Dutch

New, 6 comments

Next Wednesday, Andrew Carmellini and Damon Wise will host a dinner in the private event space at The Dutch (dubbed "PS 131") featuring dishes that the chefs are working on for their forthcoming Noho French restaurant, Lafayette. The restaurant will be an all-day brasserie with a rotisserie and a cafe/bakery component in the old Chinatown Brass space. It is easily one the most-anticipated all-day Noho French brasserie openings of the year.

Carmellini recently told Food & Wine: "I wanted to return to France, but not the heavy classics and sauces. I'll be doing olive-oil-based cooking, a lot of vegetables, a lot of fish and cooking over a fire. " The menu for the "French Eggs" dinner will include a few lighter courses like a seafood mouclade and a turbot dish, as well as things like foie gras with figs, Chèvre ravioli with truffles, and raw beef with marrow. The six-course dinner is $250 with beverage pairings, and Carmellini plans to do more of these leading up to the opening of Lafayette. Check out the menu:
