Donovan's Pub in Woodside Will Live to See Another Day

The Woodside mainstay Donovan's Pub has been purchased by a pair of neighborhood men with longstanding ties to the establishment, who will keep it in business without, it seems, any major changes. The Sunnyside Post reports that one of the pub's bartenders, James Jacobson?who has worked there for 28 years after starting as a busboy while in high school?has partnered with his brother-in-law Dan Connor to save it.

Owner Joe Donovan put the landmark on the market this past summer, leading to fears that it could close. As Grub Street notes, the location's zoning raised the possibility that it would become a bank, but all indications point to it surviving for a long time to come.
