Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are five choice dining events going on around the city:
1) Meatopia
When: Today, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: Randall's Island
What: The meat event to end all meat events is finally here. Over thirty chefs, including April Bloomfield, Pat La Frieda, Zak Pelaccio, Marc Forgione, Aaron Franklin, and Michael Toscano, take to Randall's Island this afternoon to cook up meat in all shapes and sizes. Check out the map of the grounds and the full meat-tastic menu here. Tickets are $140, which includes unlimited access to meat, beer, and ice cream, plus a ride on a water taxi.
2) Barrels & Kegs
When: Today, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Rockaway Beach Boardwalk
What: Over 15 New York breweries are taking over Rockaway Beach this afternoon for a day of beer at the beach. Breweries including Sixpoint Brewery, Brooklyn Brewery, Blue Point, and a few others, will each be serving two of their beers at one of the concession stands along the Boardwalk. Tickets are $28 for 20 pours or $10 for 5.
3) Homemade Pizza with Roberta's
When: Sunday, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: The Brooklyn Kitchen
What: Learn to make pizza from Angelo Womack and Anthony Falco, also known as Roberta's pizzaioli. They'll share their techniques, their tips and secrets, and their preferred ingredients. Students will make their own personal pizza with dough made from scratch and Brooklyn Brewery will provide the beer. The class costs $75, but the skills you'll learn are priceless.
4) TASTE Williamsburg Greenpoint
When: Sunday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: 5 N 11th St, Williamsburg
What: The third annual TASTE Williamsburg Greenpoint will take place tomorrow afternoon along the Williamsburg waterfront. The block party and tasting event will feature food and drinks from more than forty of northern Brooklyn's best restaurants, bars, and wineries, including Reynards, Pies 'n' Thighs, Bellwether, Crif Dogs, Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream, Brooklyn Oenology, Whirlybird, and Brooklyn Winery. Tickets range from $40-$95, and offer a varying number of tastes.
5) Austrian Sekt Week
When: Today and Tomorrow, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Where: Maslow 6 Wine Bar
What: Maslow 6 Wine Bar is kicking off its fall educational wine series with a week dedicated to Austrian Sekt, a sparkling wine. Today and tomorrow, they are serving five different types of Sekt and will be offering free tastings, specially priced flights of three tastes, and discounts on glasses of wine. Austrian Sekt Week ends tomorrow.
Also of Note: Smorgasburg is on for today and, starting tomorrow, is expanding with a second location at the Tobacco Warehouse on Sundays.
