L'Apicio, 13 E. First St., East Village
Projected Opening: Mid- to Late-September
The signage has been up for about two weeks now, though the inside of the L'Apicio space is still coming together. Chef Gabe Thompson from the Epicurean Management group is putting together a menu of "Italian-inspired" fare?the restaurant takes its name from an 18th century Italian cookbook?and Joe Campanale will be leading the wine and cocktail programs. With the Dell'anima, L'Artusi and Anfora team behind this one and with what should be a nice outdoor seating area just off Bowery, this will be a fun one to watch. Expect an opening in two or three weeks.
