Sapori D'Ischia Closes, Owners Plan Midtown Location

Earlier this year, Woodside pasta favorite Sapori D'Ischia quietly closed its doors. Although the restaurant is beloved by bloggers and Italian food snobs, only the Chowhounders noticed the shuttering. But this is not the end for Sapori D'Ischia — according to the restaurant's Facebook page, the owners plan to reopen in a new location near the intersection of Fifth Avenue and West 46th Street in Manhattan. The original plan was to get the new incarnation up and running by this summer, so it looks like the owners have encountered some delays.

The Community Board agendas from the past few months don't show any new liquor license applications from the Sapori D'Ischia team, but there are several empty storefronts on West 46th Street between Fifth and Sixth avenues.
