The Balthazar London rumors first started way, way back in May 2010, when the Evening Standard reported that Keith McNally was in talks to open his beloved New York brasserie abroad, with the help of business partner Richard Caring. In January of 2011, Zagat reported that McNally was working on a French brasserie with Caring in Covent Garden — at the time McNally told Eater that this was a "possibility." And today, finally, Keith confirms that yes, he's bringing his most popular restaurant to London.
Eater National learns that McNally and Caring will open Balthazar London in Covent Garden on February 12, 2013. Apparently, workers have been measuring the original space so that they can replicate it in England. This is will be McNally's first restaurant overseas, and his first restaurant directly modeled after one of his already existing concepts.
