Jason Denton Shutters 'Inoteca Liquori Bar

New, 14 comments

Saturday was the final night of service for 'Inoteca Liquori Bar, Jason Denton's casual Italian restaurant in Murray Hill. No explanation was offered for the closing, but an official statement from the 'Ino Group notes that the Lower East Side original is still open, and Denton and Co. "recently signed a new lease" there.

Jason and his brother Joe originally opened the space as Bar Milano back in 2008. After the economy tanked, they closed the restaurant for two months and reopened it as a version of their crowd-pleasing 'Inoteca concept. After Liquori was off the ground, the 'Ino Group expanded to Corsino in the West Village, Indie Food & Wine on the Upper West Side, and Betto in Williamsburg. Joe left the group in April, with plans to move to Australia.

The news of the shuttering comes as a surprise. 'Inoteca Liquori got mostly great reviews, and wine buffs loved the list and the prices. For an insider's perspective on the closing, take a look at the eulogy that former bar manager Chaim Dauermann posted on Facebook.
