Steve Hanson's Primehouse Closes After Five Years

The announcement on the Primehouse site

For weeks, Eater heard rumors about the imminent shuttering of Steve Hanson's five-year-old monster steak restaurant Primehouse near Madison Square Park. Workers at the restaurant denied the rumors, but now, it's official: BR Guest posted this farewell note on the Primehouse site this morning. This news comes just a few months after Hanson shuttered his short-lived Japanese project Kibo, just a few blocks away.

No word yet on whether Hanson has further plans for the space, or if he'll just move on. As you may recall, the restaurateur recently acquired another steakhouse concept, Strip House, which he plans to expand to Midtown sometime soon.
