Carmellini Taps Damon Wise for French Restaurant

Just now, Sir Andrew Carmellini revealed that Craft alum Damon Wise will be the chef de cuisine at his as-yet-untitled Noho French restaurant in the old Chinatown Brasserie space. Carmellini tweeted: "Welcome my good pal & awesome chef Damon Wise to our team at our French place on Lafayette St #CDC #cantwait." Wise has been running the show at Monkey Bar for the last year or so. No word yet on how this will change things at Monkey Bar — Wise might manage both kitchens, or the restaurant could find another chef to take over.

So, here's what we know about this place so far: Carmellini, Wise, French food, Chinatown Brasserie space, downstairs dining room, bakery/cafe component, Noho, coming soon. Now all we need is a name and an opening date, and we're good to go.
