GREENWICH VILLAGE ? LA burger chain Umami Burger has applied to Manhattan's CB2 to operate at 632 Sixth Ave. According to Grub Street, this is one of several locations the chain is considering. Umami Burger's expansion plans were announced last summer, and it looks like their goal to open by the end of 2012 are on track. [GS]

This weekend, Joaquin Baca's The Brooklyn Star is hosting the Kings County Corn Bowl at TBD in Greenpoint. 12 different chefs are cooking to be named the King of Corn, with the dishes judged by Christina Tosi of Momofuku Milkbar, Sam Glinn of Post Office, and David Schuttenberg of Dickson's Farmstand. FOOD TV ? The creator of Everybody Loves Raymond, Phil Rosenthal, is getting into the food reality business with none other than Thomas Keller. The as-yet-untitled show features a different celebrity (some chefs, some not) every episode taking him to a city and showing him around. For the pilot he goes to London with Keller for nine days.
