Fantastic news for Noho residents, and denizens of lower Manhattan in general: Grub Street learns that Andrew Carmellini's untitled French restaurant in the former Chinatown Brasserie space will have a cafe component, and a bakery. Also: takeout. This could radically change the weekday lunch/breakfast scene in the area. Will Carmellini's new project turn into Noho's own version of Balthazar? Perhaps. That might happen — just think about it.
The team got initial approval from the CB2 SLA licensing committee last night. It sounds like the bakery and cafe will occupy the first floor space, and there will be a dining room on the subterranean level. Now all she needs is a name and an opening date, and we're good to go.
