This morning, the first American location of famed Parisian bakery Maison Kayser opened on Third Avenue near 74th Street. This is the real deal: owner Eric Kayser has earned a cult following for his original Paris bakery while expanding rapidly. (Two more Maison Kayser locations are in the works.) The Upper East Side location has Kayser's famed baguettes and other loaves, plus assorted classic French pastries.
There's also a café with table service and a full menu of French cuisine?classic stuff like a croque monsieur, quiche Lorraine and various salads, sandwiches and tartines. Maison Kayser is open 7 a.m. to 11 p.m, 7 days a week.
