In June, Pino Luongo filed for bankruptcy, then closed his Upper East Side restaurant Centolire. Now, several former staff members say they still haven't received their final pay. An employee tells Eater:
The complete Centolire staff still has not received at least their last three weeks pay from the restaurant — some are owed more. Pino Luongo had paid us for one of the weeks pay and tips, however the checks were no good. We are all holding returned checks from our banks waiting for him to make good on them. He has closed the Centolire bank account.Apparently, Pino has a long history of writing bad checks to his employees. Hopefully Luongo will just give them the money they deserve, as soon as possible. We had approached Pino at his new restaurant, Morso, asking that he make the checks good and pay us for the last two weeks (some more), he said he would pay us on July 17. He then told us July 27, 2012 and to date he has not.
