Landlord Trying to Evict Owners of Demi Monde

New, 15 comments

The owners of swanky cocktail den Demi Monde are being sued by their landlord for $110,136 in back rent, according to Crain's. A suit filed in County Civil Court last month by Kent Swig, the landlord of 90 Broad Street where Demi Monde inhabits part of the ground and lower levels, states that the tenants have yet to pay any rent. The suit also requests that they be evicted from the building.

The bar/restaurant created a lot of buzz when it opened this past May with Phillip Kirschen-Clark in the kitchen and Alex Day and David Kaplan steering the cocktail reigns (Kaplan and Day are not owners of Demi Monde, just consultants). As of today, the Kirschen-Clark-less Demi Monde is open for service.
